You don't need UA to pass up Nike to make a bunch of money. I don't think anyone here thinks they will pass up Nike in the next 20 years. Its just a growth stock v Nike which won't get too much bigger.

Thank you for posting that so I didn't have to...

Nobody is saying Nike is shutting down or isn't going to make money, but as the analysts said yesterday, their best days are likely behind them.

Never said that, he just said the talking points on whatever financial TV show said UA was the brand of the 00s whereas Nike was the brand of the 90s. I disagree strongly with that statement because I see Nike 10 times as much as I see UA, and when it comes to shoes I see 100 pairs of Nikes to every 1 pair of UA.

I never said it was the brand of the 90's or 00's... I said it was the cool/hip thing.

These are valid points, but most posters in here are in their 20's and 30's..at best ... and our peers are a poor judge of the future athletic apparel trends.

I saw my friends who have an a 7 and 9 year old and they wore all UA the whole weekend they were at my house. I asked my friend what was up with that and he said they wanted UA stuff for christmas, all their friends wore the same. Reminded me ALOT of when i was growing up and i wore Nike head to toe. Yes, its an isolated incident of two kids but i just thought it was funny and made me think about the future.

I guess we can agree to disagree on the cool/hipness of nike vs UA. But in my small Ole Miss bubble, Nike is by far the coolest/hippest.

LOL OK

I'm by no means pro-UA, but you are naive if you don't recognize that the younger kids 8-18 go nuts for UA gear.

You put a generic set of Nike Gear and UA Gear in front of them and I'd be 9/10 times they are going to pick UA. Its the cool/hip thing. They see things like the UA High School football game that is plastered all over ESPN.

ETA: I'd def buy a pair of Nikes over UA, but that isn't the discussion here. It is the future of the brands and UA is setting up for a good run when the young kids become buyers on their own.

Sounds... scientific.

I do agree UA has more upside because they are young compared to Nike, but to me, Nike is the safer bet. This is like asking me how do I want to get rich Haha really cant go wrong with either, but I would take Nike over UA personally.

When I think of UA I think of these past brands:

I suppose Converse still does OK but not like the Chuck Taylor days and Cons of the 80's.

I think the difference is UA does apparel real well so maybe they have some sticking power but what I've seen of their shoes, they still have a ways to go.
