Mine is from a different era, but I love my diesel...wouldn't trade it for anything and will definitely lean toward diesel for any future vehicles.
The deciding factor is longevity...if your goal is to keep it for a decade and put 200+k on it, then it is a good choice. If you are going to keep it for three years then turn it over, I'm not sure you will see much benefit one way or the other.
