My boss thinks that is what it is supposed to look like while fishing offshore.

Never seen waves like that in my time in the service (Navy Reserves), but some of the saltier fellows on the type ships I was always on (frigates and destroyers) tell stories of playing basketball in the spare forward chain locker in storms like that.

Not sure if still true, but 30 years ago, almost all navy ships had two spare chain lockers. One forward, one aft. While not in use, they were used for recreational area's typically. A ship I was on once had a basketball goal set up in the forward chain locker. The saltier guys would play basketball in big storms, and said if you time your jump just right, a 5'5" man could dunk the hell out of a basketball.

My buddy was on the Texas back in the eighties. Said he was up on the top observation deck in a storm like that in the southern ocean and the waves were so tall there were times he was looking up at them even from that height. Nobody was supposed to be outside but they were sneaking smokes or something and didn't figure anything could get them up there. After looking up at the peaks of waves from that height they got the hell back inside.

I bet the whole ship shudders every time the stern comes up out of the water.

No greenwater on bridge glass...not impressed.

Got some greenwater across bow at 2:07.

Then again, it's been a long time since I was 18. I may not handle it so well these days.

I spent 4 years and 2 months on an Aegis class cruiser. 2 6 month Med cruises, a short 2 month trip to the Baltic and countless days underway for work-ups or training.
I never had too many problems with the side to side, but the up-down side to side killed me. It was especially bad when the sonar dome got up because the ship would flutter back and forth on the way down.
The Atlantic in December, it pretty much sucks!

Meh. Those smaller boats on Deadliest Catch go through worse than that.
