I don't think he's overrated. He had a good rookie year. I don't think it was great though.

Roman Harper is one of the reasons I'll wait to reserve judgement. Same with Malcom Jenkins. Both showed out early only to regress as the years went on.

I don't know where to rank it though with the other off seasons.

I was excited when we got Shockey and Vilma.

and the 2006 draft was fun because of the excitement around Reggie Bush. I remember thinking that Roman Harper was picked a lot higher than I thought he would be. I remember a lot of the folks around town here having similar thoughts. They were all excited because Harper was on the team that everyone follows in this part of Alabama but just a little surprised he went so early (2nd Round).

but I would be lying if I said I was excited about the rest of that draft class. No one knew who Evans or Colston were. But that has what has endeared me to them. Colston is my favorite player on the team. The dude just does his job and never brings negative attention to himself.

I remember the 2006 draft. I just met my wife, and I watched it at her dads house. She didn't quite understand what I was so excited about. Then she was in shock and awe when she saw me freak out while watching the first game back in the dome. She was literally like "Who are you?" because I'm mostly very mellow, but I yell and jump around during games.

yeah, that first game back was unforgettable. That is the loudest game I've ever been too. The only time I've ever lost my voice at a game. The first time I ever hugged a random strangers at the game ( a few other fans sitting near our group).

I also went to the Redskins game that year with my brother but we lost. But even in defeat, the Saints locked up the division that day.

What a year that was!

my first saints game was the Atlanta one. We were looking for single game tickets, but couldn't find any so we bought season tickets. Thank god we did

I'll answer this question when the off season ends.
And not before.

I feel they've put themselves in a position to address offense with that first pick.

If they have a high grade on him, I could see them taking Marcus Martin in the 2nd. If not, we'll probably address C in the 3rd/4th round.

However, I could still see us taking someone like Kyle Fuller in the 1st, and then taking a WR in the 2nd.

We have seen a defense heavy off-season, but I think we're seeing a sea change in the NFL. For a while, the rule changes made it wide open on offense, but I think defenses are starting to catch up. Defense is a premium again.

This offseason ranks near the top merely for the fact that the front office has finally decided to cut aging players rather than give them nice "thanks for playing for us" contracts.
