That's like saying 2011 A&M vs. t.u. is stupid because they Ags blew a double digit lead at home.
Doesn't change the fact that refs turning a blind eye to sip holding and a horrible personal foul call didn't affect the game as well.
This ain't zero sum

that that was why y'all won a title

does it change what happened in game 6? No. Does it show how the kings blew the series instead of the league winning it for us? Yep

My bad, meant to say "went to the Finals."

Bingo.

It shows that blowing a lead of any kind against y'all is inviting yourself to get screwed over
Like I said, you better blow the lakers the frick out when they're good.

We're going to settle this Aggy to Aggy

i think we both agree the lakers are the beneficiary of calls, im just pointing out that while you may not explicitly have said it, others have that the league makes a conceited effort to make sure we win and im just expressing my opinion on how stupid that notion is
Posted on 4/3/14 at 1:20 am to TbirdSpur2010
once again. my point on the kings has nothing to do with "oh we don't get calls" and it has everything to do with responding to the notion that "the lakers only won that series because the league cheated for them"

This
necessarily leads to this:
if the game is close enough for that to be a factor. It's not all or nothing.
You have to have a game like SA had against LAL in game 6 in 2003, not flirt with disaster like we did in 2008. Because disaster WILL strike in the form of LA getting a crucial call, more often than not.
I'm not being paranoid or mad. While it sucks to come out on the short end of the stick to y'all in a situation like that, it does make it that much sweeter to beat y'all, because it usually proves that your team was far and away better than the Lakers.
ETA: And on the flipside, I'm also not saying that y'all always need help, don't misunderstand me. No one was touching y'all in 2001, for example.

us getting a questionable call when a game is close more often than not does not equate to the league making a conceited effort for us to go out and win. yea they are protecting us, sure, but actually going out to cheat to make sure we win, like what has been said in this thread, is just ridiculous

It doesn't have to be a concerted (that's the word you're looking for btw) effort when all it takes is a timely call or two.
The Lakers franchise usually gets the benefit of the doubt in close games when they're good. Doesn't mean y'all will always win, though.

That could be construed as a form of cheating, though
That's not what I'm saying, but of course y'all get the benefit of the doubt, just like my Cowboys do in the NFL. Doesn't mean Dallas hasn't won plenty of times without help, and it doesn't mean that we'll always win, but damn if I'm not confident that we'll get our share of judgment calls when the chips are down.

concerted
quote:this is where we have a fundamental disagreement. I don't buy into one call in one game can change a series. I don't mean that for just the ones that we benefit, but also when we are on the shite end of the stick. like 2008. boston got so many calls in game 2 it was ridiculous. they also got a good number of calls in game 1. but im in no way blaming our loss on those 2 games. we blew a 20 pt lead at home. just like I don't blame that call against us and the sips as the reason we lost. yea, the call was at the pivotal moment, but we should have never been in that situation. I acknowledge that we have been beneficiary of calls more so than others and I see how it can be established that those calls help us win. but I will never agree to the notion that those calls are why we win playoff series. just like I would never agree with the notion that we (a&m or anyone) lose a game or a series because of a bad call
effort when all it takes is a timely call or two

Allow me to say this about 2008: of all your Finals opponents, that one mattered the least in terms of officiating (and the same goes for your redux with them). The league was pleased as punch just to have their iconic rivalry in the Finals again, and as much as Stern can say "lakers vs. lakers," you know good and well he didn't give a shite who actually won, so any grievances you have with the officiating in those series' with Boston, you can take up with a Celtics fan (Patton, get your gump arse in here! ).

I was more bringing it up as an example of when we didnt get the calls, at all, and while its annoying, im in no way blaming the series loss on them. mostly because I am a full believer in the thought that if you don't want to get fricked, don't put yourself in that scenario. also we had chances in our other games to win the series that weren't as crazy on the officiating side and we didnt get it done.

It's well documented that game 6 of the '02 WCF was rigged. Even with it being so closely called in LAL's favor, you guys struggled to pull out of there. You guys shot 27 4th quarter free throws too!
But but but you guys blew a huge lead (it was also 24 points) to James Posey and Eddie House in game 4. And you guys choked in game 6.
Sounds familiar.
