You have to win like 90 to even qualify.
Half of the playoff spots are almost always split between the teams with the highest payrolls
Then you have to hope your top three pitchers are healthy and peaking, and win 10-11 games.

I know but of the teams that really have a chance to win it the 1st round matchup is usually one they should coast through.
