I've been to Detroit. It has a lot of run down areas and relics of an extremely prosperous city/middle class that has come and gone.

However, many run down areas of the south have never had that great time and thus have far less to abandon. Baton Rouge probably has as much abandoned shite per capita (mostly in North BTR), but who cares?

Some of Detroit's suburbs are actually still very nice and well laid out which was surprising to me. Having said that, there's no way I'd ever live there.

There must still br plenty people doing ok in the suburbs bc Tigers games are well attended

Hopefully Detroit thugs and corrupt officials move the frick out and possibly let the city recover.
