As a former walk on at TCU this is retarded.

But if they insist on calling Northwestern Football players "employees", that's fine. Pay them but pull their scholarships. Force them to pay their tuition, meals, housing, etc. with their new salaries.

And then the inevitable lawsuit by walk on players since this doesn't apply to them. Walk on players put themselves in harms way just as much as the scholarship guys considering a lot of them are pretty much target practice on scout teams.

I was a walk on at TCU and got 3 concussions throughout my time there playing wide receiver on scout team.

if you treat them as employees then the less productive employees (the walk ons) will not get paid the same wage as the top performers.

No one made you walk on to the team.

And don't forget paying the associated payroll and social security taxes that other employees pay. Also union dues.
