Just curious as the where you received this info? Worked in orthopedics for 6yrs and our head surgeon was a child specialist. Graduated from Georgetown and did her child specialty fellowship at Johns Hopkins... Any kid that we saw and or did surgery on was informed to drink milk everyday. Just curious if she was lying to 30 kids parents a week?
i wouldn't call it lying. Her schooling likely taught her that it was necessary. But, like someone else has really pointed out, milk is a quick fix to give certain nutrients to children. A balanced, healthy diet would be far better than feeding your kid milk because "it does a body good", or "your bones will fall apart if you don't drink it."

The idea that growing children need milk is one that was put out by the milk industry. Their marketing has done wonders. And I bet if you looked it up, those industries probably funded a good deal of the research from the past that said that kids really needed to drink it, a lot.

Where did I get this info? My brain.

Her schooling wasn't all that long ago. The woman was a child specialist who studied at Johns Hopkins.... it isn't ancient schooling. We also were part of a group of clinics that treated osteoporosis, again women and men were told to drink milk as a supplement. The point is, it is extremely important for a child to have it. I will agree with you that having a balanced diet is key, but no way your kid gets enough calcium through a diet w/o milk alone. and this is why.... No one in America can tell me their kid gets the appropriate diet on a regular basis.
For the fat "problem" with milk... I guess ingesting fricking margarine and all that fake shite is better for you too? Reality is, in moderation butter and milk are better for you.
