I would say that he was above average for about 2 years when they went to back to back AFC championship games. Never anything close to elite tho. Their defense carried them pretty far those 2 years as well. But after those 2 years he turned into the laughing stock of the NFL

He was never above average. He was below average at best. Most of the time he was terrible.
