It's a messed up situation, but being a firefighter has no bearing here.

My keys would work on my door. Plus she is probably the one driving me if I'm drunk.

yup - no chance youd grab the wrong key, or something silly like you straightening up a little mess on the front porch on the way in.... or that you scared off the burglar at the door and are about to come in yourself.

the problem with shooting through a locked door with no visual is that you truly have no idea what the threat is on the other side. its just a bump in the night that is scary. it could be your new neighbor that mixed up the house.

im not saying string her up for it, but shooting through the door is a risky move at best.

hopefully you hear her if its you fumbling around a bit at the door

I don't think he would be fumbling around outside of his own door making all kinds of noise and ignoring warnings that he was about to be shot. Dumbass.

this

dude was trying to bust down her door.

we had that fool get away with shooting people in the back that were fleeing from robbing his neighbor's house.

she should be fine so long as her story checks out.

I agree, but that is more of a hunting rule.

Nah, that is a gun handling rule, and of the utmost importance.

Simply not drinking too much will go a long way in preventing sad stories like this from happening.

It's a sad story that's completely unfortunate and so preventable.

fricked up situation but you have to see your target before you shoot it. Shooting through a door was a bad choice.

Maybe it was a glass door or had windows…give the lady the benefit of the doubt.

I am a huge gun advocate. I am a huge fan of stand your ground I carry a concealed weapon I and my wife are trained to protect ourselves, children, and home with lethal force This lady was wrong. It is tragic but she was in no danger unless the door was partially open. She should never have shot through her door.

Agreed.
