Been out of the loop on it, and all I can find is confusing stuff about the court-battle...what are the chances of the Stros actually being available to watch on Direct/Dish in market this year? Anyone out there that can give me a simple rundown of the situation.

(and in before...why, do you want to watch a 100 loss team).

It's confusing. So much has happened. I've been hearing about it for the past couple years, and I can't tell you exactly what's going on right now.

They filed for chapter 11 I think and are working something out in court. That's all I know.

The Astros definitely want to be on TV for this season.

So we'll see how it goes.

I am not optimistic. The most recent thing I saw about it was McLane's testimony and him basically putting all the blame for their current shittiness on Crane and Luhnow. The sad part is he probably thinks that is correct and isn't just posturing

Get extra innings and watch their opponents feed. That's going to be the most fail proof course of action.

We're even screwed in BR because of Fox Sports New Orleans...they own the rights to both the rangers and the Astros. They choose to show the Rangers, so we get no stros at all (and no one else can show them either because of this)

We are even blacked out with the mlb.com stuff because we are within 250 miles (which is waaaaay too much distance for baseball games).

Very simplified b/c it's confusing as hell (to me)...

Astros - Wanted to prevent the CH. 11 bankruptcy for CSN so the station could go under financially and the astros could reclaim their TV rights. That failed. Judge granted Ch. 11 which gives NBC/Comcast extra time to negotiate carraige arrangements without having to pony up for their current liabilities. jim Crane feels Drayton and NBC sold him a bullshite business plan which he is now suing them for.

NBC/CSN - SEVERELY overestimated the demand for a regional sports network in this area and overpriced their product to a point where carriers called their bluff. CSN held firm to their unreasonable price, despite general apathy from the viewers going without the channel, and are in bankruptcy as a result.

Rockets - Tad Brown and leslie Alexander made a bad business decision, and just want their prodcut back on the air as fast as possible. I don't think they care if that is through bankruptcy or other means, but they did side with Comcast in the bankruptcy hearing.

Viewers - fricked for a long time!!!
