Reports have been mixed. It certainly changed things to the way it was a long time ago. I hope the green snot died.

I can't understand why there is not some type of structure on the north and south ends of that lake that would allow fresh water from the Red River into that lake. I could also say the same for False River.

Enough sediment gets in there from nearby crop land without the muddy red getting in. OTOH, there is some talk of a diversion from the Oxbow on the other side of St. Maurice. There is already a ditch that basically runs from that oxbow to Cane, but there would have to be help from man to get the water there. This would be fairly clean water too, as the sediment would have time to drop before getting to the lake. That oxbow stays pretty clear.

They got approval fron the enviro.. to move along with the diversion project to add red river water into cane river. They are insatlling a pump station on the north end (college end) should be complete by next year. so current will travel to south end and out to red river

I need to get into water testing,
quote:
CK Associates next addressed the commission. They provided an update to the Red River Project. In order to move to the next stage of the project, they require water samples from Red River, Hampton’s Lake, and Cane River Lake. They requested that CK be authorized to set up and test those locations by GPS. After a lengthily discussion the commission tabled the request until they could speak with Altec on the matter. Altec has provided the water sampling for the commission for over 10 years. The commission authorized Mrs. Fuller to contact Altec and ask them to attend the May 17, 2011 meeting. The expected cost for the testing would be about $70,000.00. Upon motion by Mrs. Vienne, Second by Mr. Laborde, and unanimous vote the commission approved up to $70, 000.00 for the required testing.

yes north past the college it deads in with a levee. pump station will be there. there was an article in the paper up there a few weeks ago that the water samples came back good and they can proceed with construction. est time of completion is 6 months to year. this should solve closing the lake due to low conditions and hopfully control the sediment issue.

I feel pretty good about the fact that you could catch a few at Cane using nothing but weightless Trick worms beating the bank.
