Off subject but next update is coming with a volume mixer so you can control snap vs main audio.

You have to have HDMI out on the reciever and that would go to TV.

Seems like it would excessive

So xbox1 TV out to HDMI 1 on reciver and then HDMI out on receiver to TV? I'll give that a shot and then if that doesn't work:

Wrong.
Do you have a cable box or satellite receiver at all ?
There should be only one HDMI cable between each device and the receiver.
Your XBox should have two HDMI cables. One says HDMI out to TV (plug it to your receiver) The other says HMDI IN (come from your cable or satellite box.)
If you have no cable box, you will NOT be able to watch TV through the XBone.
In that case you do exactly as I said above, but you will NOT have a cable to the XBone HDMI IN.

This plus being able to control how far up and down you want the volume to go when using the voice commands is going to be nice

I can't wait till we get an update allowing customization(or at least more options) on the snapped feed.

Nope. Which must be the problem. I'm just waiting for the optical chord.

Why do you need an optical cord if you have 2 HDMI cords?
Posted on 3/18/14 at 2:16 pm to taylork37
Because I have no idea how to hook everything up w/o a cable box.

Does your receiver say HDMI out or to TV or something like that?

XBone goes to the receiver then the TV for sure.

Yup. I'm going to try xbox hdmi out to receiver hdmi 1. And then receiver out to hdmi 1 TV. If that doesn't work, I'm just using the optical chord.
I know optical isn't the preferred method, but is the audio quality the same as HDMI?

From your original post, it sounds like you already have the reciever hooked up to the TV and surround sound.
All you need to do is get the HDMI chord from your Xbox OUT port to one of the HDMI in ports on your receiver. There should be no need for an optical cord.
It isn't because HDMI carries audio. Either way it identical quality if you are doing 5.1 surround or less.

No shite.
It's outs to ins.
First HDMI Cable
HDMI OUT from XBox One to an HDMI INPUT on the receiver.
Second HDMI Cable
HDMI OUT (may be labeled as Monitor Out) from receiver to HDMI 1 input on TV.
TURN THE XBOX ONE ON
TURN RECEIVER ON AND SELECT THE INPUT YOU CONNECTED THE XBOX HDMI CABLE TO
TURN THE TV ON AND SELECT THE HDMI 1 INPUT
