In order to make a sensible pick at LB or WR, we should move up or down. If we keep 27, a corner can be had, or DE if we go that route like several mocks suggest. CB makes the most sense to me.

I agree with this. WR is the deepest it has been in a long time.

I like the idea of getting a guy like Ryan Shazier. A very very speedy linebacker who doesn't have to come off the field.

As much as I'd like a playmaking all-pro-type WR or a great C, record-setting offenses like ours in 2011, Brady in 2007, and Manning's this past season will tell you that defense wins championships.

Give me a cover CB and a playmaking NB to go along with Lewis, Vacarro, & Byrd that will at the very least force a QB to hold the ball for 2.5 to 3 seconds and get sacked hard by Jordan, Hicks, Galette, & Butler and be forced into turnovers: fumbles or INTs.

I can live with our offense if it can just kick FGs in the red zone like Seattles no-name offense did in the SB until it's a 20+ lead at every halftime.

For me, Cooks has the most potential to contribute significantly in year 1 out of the WRs...that's why if he's there at #27, I want to grab him instead of getting someone in a later round. WR can be another position where rookies don't always excel. Cooks looks ready to me.

I also like Shazier a lot...Past WR, he may be my favorite pick. Would he be an ILB or OLB in a 3-4? How do analysts rate his coverage? Could he play as the 2nd linebacker next to Lofton when we only put two out there with Gallette on the line?

WR or CB. If a good LB drops that's certainly possible as well.

Seems right Coco.
But trading out of the 1st and getting multiple 2nd or 3rd round picks is my hope.
They will never do this. Ever. 0.0% chance. Nada.

Reverse mojo in action!

...White has shown that he can be a very good NB.

A true #2 cover corner would be great. I think we all would like that. I just don't think we're gonna get anywhere close to that for this player's rookie season.

...Atlanta got it right with Trufant though, so you never know...didn't work out too great for the Jets or Raiders though with the #9 and #12 picks.

The way CSP has been talking about receivers leads me to believe that unless all the worthy talent is gone by our pick, we are taking a WR (this assuming the 26 picks before us follow general rules and no one slips far or something) ... If I had to make a real educated guess I would say Lee, OBJ or Benjamin (none of which I'm very high on, honestly, but I could see the temptation). It's looking more and more like Cooks will be gone and even though I like Matthews better than any other WR outside of Watkins and Evans, he is consistently getting a mid 2nd grade.

So my guess is Benjamin.

The only argument against cb that I can't really argue against is that we have such a terrible history of scouting cb's.

But I'll argue it anyway; can you just assume we will miss on cb's and stop trying? What's the right play here.

The good thing about the draft is we have all our picks pretty much, and we have minimal glaring holes on our team. It's going to be a truly exciting draft. I can't say I'd be mad no matter what the hell position they pick.

It's not just us, although we have been bad at it....CB is one of the toughest positions to adjust to in da league.

So is WR. I posted this a few months back.

WRs picked in the first round fail waaaaaaay more than they succeed. From 2000-2012 there have been 52 WRs taken in the 1st round. I bet there are less than 15 that actually panned out as actually worth that 1st round pick. That has to be one of the worst productions from any position. Are there any can't miss guys like Dez Bryant, AJ Green, or Julio Jones worth taking in the 1st round?

JF and some competition for the leg? I can dig it.

definitely. But we can get a WR in the 3rd RD equal to the ones we can find at 27, unless someone unexpected drops. The draft is all about value. It'd be dumb to take one in the 1st round

BPA (of value) at CB, WR, or maybe LB.

Unless they have a highly-rated D guy that falls, I like this strategy.

Who do we not want to face at WR for the next few years? Draft him.

ya, but a WR could have an impact as a rookie even if they don't live up to their first round status...and we'll be much better off with a disappointing WR than a CB getting burned repeatedly or benched.

Tavon Austin, Deandre Hopkins, Cordarelle Patterson all made significant contributions to their teams last season.

...not to mention, I trust the Saints more at WR evaluation than CB evaluation.

Our offense is in decline, last year was bad by our standards. I don't think we go cb in the first because we tried to address it in FA with Browner giving me the impression that we like another position of need there at 27. I think that position is wr.

Possible receivers at 27:
ODB
Cooks
Benjamin

Although ODB and Cooks are great its the size of Benjamin that interest me. I can't imagine that CSP hasn't giving some thought of a replacement for a declining Colston. Plus our red zone efficiency was not on par from previous years if I recall. We need another threat in the end zone and Benjamin gives us that.
