Does anyone have any recommendations of an architect for custom home on the Northshore? I am looking to eventually build a 5000 square foot Acadian or plantation style home.
George Hopkins
Al Jones
Others?
Thanks for any guidance!!!

Matt Voelkel. Great guy and fantastic architect. Studio MV on Lee Lane and Boston.

My wife and I are going to see Piazza soon. Anyone ever used him?

Go to church with Al Jones and his son Ben (also works with him). They do fantastic work.

Andy McDonald did a set of plans for me. I like his work, but not sure if he still has an office in Madisonville.

I am a builder on the Northshore and highly recommend both Matt Voekel and George Hopkins. We have worked on many projects with both and both are great.

Just finished up some plans with Steve Madden at Madden Home Design. $.50/sqft under roof. He has some sample plans you can use, alter, or start from scratch.

I used Charles Silbernagel in Metairie for my house on the Northshore and was happy. My wife liked the house he designed for Steve Johnson (from Walton and Johnson) in the sanctuary.

Al Jones was an under-study to A. Hays Town and remains faithful to that style. He insists on using only the best materials. To my knowledge, you won't see aluminum siding or aluminum windows on his houses. He's a tongue-and-groove guy. 12" x 2" pine flooring is not uncommon. Ditto for slate or cedar shake roofs. Custom woodwork all around.
