I'm 25, and I'm building my own life. The problem is my parents are constantly asking me for money. I don't live with them, and haven't for about 5 years now. I guess my question is, when do you have to just say "I can't do it anymore". I love them, but they are really mooching off the things I've accomplished. Any advice?

What's their financial situation? Recently fired? Living over their means? Some additional details would help

When either you truly can't do it anymore because of the math, or you can't do it anymore because you're ready to break the cycle.

It's tough love, just stop giving to them. My father kicked my 30 year old sister out of his house after she was divorced a year prior and wanted new scenery for progress. Problem was she wasn't making progress, she kept being down and making my step mother depressed and she wouldn't even take a management position at Hobby Lobby cause she was nervous about the position. So he told her she had to leave and she moved in with my mother. It's unfortunate but you can't let yourself go down with their sinking ship.

Wow, that sucks. Just tell them that you don't have it. They don't know exactly what you make (hopefully) and it should stay that way. If they get upset (they will) just apologize and let that be that. Good for you for making something of yourself after coming from a man who doesn't want to work.

move further away

distance will help some. telling them no when they ask for more money is easier and I doubt they are really providing you any mental/emotional support in return for your financial support.

I would say when it puts you in a bind you have to say no...especially if you have a family to provide for. If the amount you're lending isn't a burden then maybe continue.

Sounds like your parents suck though.

This is why Obama wanted death panels.

Your parents sound like Joe Dirt's family. Tell them to sign up for obama disability.
