And Lester I just dont get how Miami could be considered to be 1 of the most balanced or complete teams at each position. Not saying they arent a great team or anything. But I dont think they are 1 of the most balanced or complete teams in the NBA. Same with OKC.

The Heat have 2 holes on their team, Center and PG. OKC has 2 as well Center and SG.

Dr. Shultz

quote:

a couple years ago he was a burgeoning star. is it safe to say hes closer to an elite 3 and D guy than franchise cornerstone?

In regards to Batum, hes much more than just a defender. 4th in Rebounds out of all SFs with 7 per game, same as LBJ. And is 3rd out of all SFs in assists with 5.2 per game. He has shown the ability to be a good scorer as well, but doesnt need to be which is why hes only averaging 13per game. And he used to be the go to guy for the Blazers from the perimeter. But the addition of Lillard and growth of Matthews means Batum gets less touches on the offensive end. Hes shooting solid %s. Just not shooting enough or getting enough touches / opportunities to make a bigger impact scoring wise.

But outside of scoring, hes pretty much elite at everything else. Defense, rebounding, assists, etc. Hes solid. If he was on a team where he was the #1 option, he would be a 20ppg kinda player. But hes not, and he doesnt have a problem shooting less. Which is rare.
