Yep. Also, was Errol's dad involved? He obviously took him out.
Also, When Errol asked his sister/whatever that relationship was why she didn't tell him about what granddad had done to her, it made me think that he might be the reason a lot of those guys are dead now. She could have been one of the early victims of their cult.
ETA: honestly what pissed me off the most was how long they focused on the ferry boat at the end of the 7th episode, all for it to mean nothing. That could have been a 10 second shot, but it lasted a good 45 seconds to a minute. Just a very odd sequence for them not to bring it up again.
