Personally I'd like to get DLP back for $2m or less on a 1-2 year deal and draft a C and see if he can replace him.
I don't like the idea of completely banking on a rookie(Tennant springs to mind).

I would too, but I think they realize someone is gonna offer him more than they are willing to pay. The thing that has DLP in a position to be overvalued/paid by other teams is who has his hands between his legs.
