How old do you think my boy needs to be until I take him to see movie in theater?

I know it is not exact science. He turned two in December and sits through Nemo and Toy Story. But they are familiar to him. I want to take him to see Frozen but worry I will be that dad with kid that can't be quiet.

Every kid is different, but I can't imagine taking my two year old into a theater.

It's not age. It's maturity. If he can sit still and quiet for the length of the movie then take him. If he can't then don't

Frozen came out before Christmas. I would assume it will be available for home consumption soon enough.

Frozen comes out March 18, but by all means go see it at the theater if you want. I believe my daughter was 2 when she went to her first. It was Beauty and Beast when they brought it back out. Other than just swapping from my lap to my wife's lap a couple of times that was pretty much it. My nephew is 3 though and we really still can't take him to watch a movie. So like others said it really just depends on your kid. I say go for it. It is a kids show so it's not really like people in there can really expect total silence. If you choose Frozen it will probably not be very crowded any how since most people have probably seen it.

One of my kids could sit through movies before she was two. The other one is six and still kind of unpredictable.
Worse case scenerio you walk out.

Really depends on the movie and the kid.

Took my kids (3 and 1.5) to see Shrek 2 in the theater and they loved it (kept their attention and they behaved). However, they were bored with Home on the Range about 15 minutes in and started wandering (and that came out about a month before). Saw The Incredibles later in the year and they were mesmerized.

I took my little one when he was two. He sat on my lap some of the times, but he was okay. What I did the first couple of items was to go during an early show when attendance was at a minimum. It seemed to work out and he eventually got used to going watch movies and learning how to behave (almost) perfectly going forward.

Related story... when he was 3 or so, he saw the previews for African Cats and really wanted to see it. I took him one afternoon when I was off and there were literally like 3 or 4 other people in the theater. At one point, he got kinda scared so I put him in my lap. During the scenes with the cheetah mother losing her cubs, I heard a *sniff* *sniff* and then felt tears on my arms. We went play video games in the lobby after that!

I take my 3 year old and 4 month old to movies all the time. I have no issues.

I get there early so I'm the first in the theatre. I choose seats on the aisle so that I can quickly exit if needed, or seats on the aisle on the very back row if at a non-stadium seating theatre. Works perfectly.

We took our daughter to see Frozen at about 20 months old. She would have been fine had she not noticed the stairs. After that, she wanted to play on them all of the time. But as long as either my wife or I were standing along the wall holding her, she was OK.

Like you said, every kid is different. But my wife and I took my kid to see Brave when he was about 2 and a half and he loved it. I took him to see Frozen also and again, he loved it.

My friend and I took my goddaughter to see Legend of the Guardians last year in the theater. She was about a month from turning 3. We went in the middle of the day and were luckily the only people in the entire theater. About 20 minutes in, she said, "Is it over?" That was basically how she signaled she was done, but she stuck it out the rest of the way.

Fast forward one year and we took my goddaughter and her younger sister (also my goddaughter) who was about 16 months at the time to see Frozen. The 16 month old was enraptured nearly the entire time, though I do not think she stopped eating the entire movie. The now 3 year old (nearly 4) was very good. Frozen might not be a representative sample since it was such an engrossing movie for the kiddos.
