We asked if we could substitute a house salad for the desert and they acted like we were asking to see a threesome between Mickey, Donald and Minnie.
I didn't have a meal plan, but on a pre-paid dinner they had no problem adding on and special making a house salad for the older girl as she likes salads with everything. They also brought her carrot sticks too.
They even offered to switch out my entree after I told the server the other entree my SO had was one of the best things I had tasted.
People are fat because of choice. There is no "Oh McDonald's is so fattening that's why I'm fat"
People who are fat, are fat because they don't burn enough calories for what they consume and it's as easy as that.

People flock to the meal plan because they think they are getting a value, but they're really not and it offers VERY little in terms of flexibility.

Oh I'm with you brother. I just think it would be nice to have something other than a 1,000 calorie desert at every sit down meal. Even on the counter meals everything came with a desert. Maybe I'm too healthy but does the general public expect some sort of fricking desert at every meal? I hope this is just Disney being a little over the top and not the expectations of Americans now.

The meal plan used to come with an app, entree and dessert per person and included gratuity. To cut costs they made some changes (understandably), but I agree it's stupid to not be able to sub a dessert for a side salad or cup of soup.

I'm not cheap but the tip for the buffet meals is ridiculous. I refuse to tip less than 20% but basically $8 to $10 per person tip on a buffet is a little high.

I'm a 20% tipper too, but to me a self serve buffet requires no tip. If you bring me water or whatever maybe $1 a person, but not 20%.
For bad service I give 15% but to require 18% of a buffet is way too high. We didn't do any buffets at WDW though. Thought about one in Liberty Square but then went to Columbia House instead.

quote:I think it's a fat thing. I eat desert after a meal maybe 5 times a year. Not even out of weight concerns, it just usually isn't appealing after I'm already full and I really don't like sweets that much(I mean I do but it's never my first choice in junk food. )

I almost never get dessert as well, wife's birthday or something like that. I think they target the people who think "oh, it's a vacation we can splurge" mindset.

I log on to MDE at 4:50 this morning ready to make my Be Our Guest ADR for Sept 7 and they had a few times available so I grab the 6:40 as soon as it hits 5 am. Server goes busy....
Refresh and the only thing left was 8:30 pm, SOOOO I guess we won't be seeing MSEP next trip.
It isn't that big of a deal. We will still be done to watch Wishes at 9pm and will see the new day time parade at Magic Kingdom, plus we are going to the Not So Scary Halloween Party so we can see that parade as well.
Staying off-site for this trip having to book my ADRs one day at a time is a PIA

I was on MDE at 5:00 AM yesterday doing our ADR's. Didn't book Be Our Guest. I'm thinking about using fastpass+ to go for lunch one day.

Do you mean Liberty Tree Tavern? Not a buffet and probably the best food at Magic Kingdom. You should give it a whirl next time.

This might be your best bet. We booked a late May trip about three weeks ago, and we were lucky to get an ADR for BOG at 8:40pm one day. Every other time was taken for every day of our trip.
