Like me, you sound like you don't want to do a lot of planning and are confused about how to make the best of it. Some dude last week posted this as a simple, effective way to save time and increase your enjoyment.

Spend the morning in a recommended or low crowd park, then hop to a busier park after lunch to see parades, Illuminations, Fantasmic, ec. and when you arrive, you have your three FP+ waiting for us. The key for sure is to make your FP+ in your second park of the day, then if there is a late park open, you hit that one third and do the busiest attraction just before park closing.
