Your best of the worst Oscar slights/oversights

What are some of the most glaring examples of either films or actors that either did not get nominated or did and were not awarded.
My top of the list is the year they overlooked Russell Crowe in Beautiful Mind. They gave it to Washington for Training Day. Don't get me wrong, I am huge Denzel fan but they gave it to him as payback for the previous oversights and I do not think they wanted to award Crowe a second Oscar. His role as Prof Nash was incredible.

TKAM is better than LoA in every conceivable way.

Except Crowe got his for Gladiator because of the Insider oversight. His performance in Gladiator was...not worthy. Not even close.

Shakespeare in Love winning over Saving Private Ryan for Best Picture will rustle my jimmies until the end of time

Can't have an Oscar worst thread without sticking in Crash as the most PC contrived pile of crap in Oscar history.

Crowe had just won Best Actor the year before and was also in some trouble over fighting or something.

Fargo should have won over The English Patient in 1996.
As for this year, it makes no sense that Daniel Bruhl wasn't nominated for his portrayal of Niki Lauda in Rush. It was as perfect a portrayal as I've ever seen.

Wow, actually never knew this. These are probably my 2 favorite actors, and I have never even seen training day, but I guess I just assumed Crowe won for A Beautiful mind. Absolutely incredible performance.

Driving Miss Daisy was your conservative, family values movie about race. It won over the vastly superior Do the Right Thing, and even the interesting Glory, neither of which were nominated.
2005 was a weak year for major films. Crash won because they didn't want to give it to Brokeback Mountain (both Capote and Good Night and Good Luck were excellent, but not really Oscar movies). 2000-2006 was a particularly poor period for movies.
