The foul called on Coleman's block at end of regulation was worse. Game shouldn't have even gone to OT
Yes, and......

that and the cheap one they called on hickey for his 3rd at the end of the 1st half
Yes. Amazing that a 5'10" player can foul a 7fter on a box out.
Would love to see JOB, Mickey and Martin box out anywhere near as aggressively and effectively as a little guard who was apparently so strong that he was called for a foul.

He only took 3 steps...problem?

Last dribble at 3-point line...right foot then hits the floor
left foot
right foot on the floor, ball still in his hands

If we're shoulda coulda then a tripping call on LSU could have been called tbh.
Just curious, but where is there a trip in that sequence? We actually move out of the way to avoid contact. No trip took place. And I think he definitely landed before throwing the ball up...but's it's Kentucky, at home, with SEC refs...not really much else to say.

That first step he hasn't "picked up" the ball yet. The right foot is down and the ball is still underneath his palm. He hasn't actually picked it up yet, so that's 2 steps.
The better argument is his foot came down before the shot/pass and that was the third step. Tough call to make in real time.

He didn't travel. He took two steps towards the basket and went up so it's the same as a layup
Not sure what everyone saw
Agreed. It just looked worse because he stumbled some and wasn't in control.

the ball was in his hand before his right foot hit the ground, the dribble was off his left foot

It was a close call as to whether he traveled. The true missed call was the shove in the back by Randle as he got in position for the rebound. Granted the LSU defender did not move to the center of the rim and left the lane open there is no question Randle pushed him just enough to gain an advantage.

You could say he took 4 steps, hard to say all of that was only 2 steps.
If it were the other way around we would have been called for it.

No doubt. The refs were certainly playing it up for the fans too.

If you look closely it appears he doesn't pass the ball until his left is on the floor.
Breaking it down on the steps; left foot, right foot, goes up with the ball; comes down on left foot at the same time he passes the ball. That's the third step. Travel.

That is not tripping, the defender moved out of the way. A tripping call would have been ridiculous on that play.
But the travel or not is close.

No better example than the ref emphatically signaling Kentucky ball after a tie up where the possession arrow was pointing towards LSU.
