I doubt that but he doesn't need to. If he can get in the 15-20% range (Chris Christie got 23%), it will also have any effect of young people and soccer moms who will be swayed by his message of tolerance.

Before Obama, most blacks that vote are the old folks/church going/female crowd. A lot more voted over Obama hoopla. Rand can def. make headway with black males, you can believe that. What people don't realize is the GOP has deliberately gave the dems the black vote, bc without it the dems don't stand a chance in hell.

Rand realizes that Reagan's template won't work with 2016 demographics, and so he's adjusting his game plan accordingly.

Rand Paul has been doing this for while now. I know he was invited to speak at Howard(HBCU) in DC.

Yeah it was okay at Howard, but he nailed it at Simmons. He also gave speech at a charter school and has visited tavis smiley/cornel west show. if he impresses on Tom Joyner, good night sweet prince.

don't do it! It is a waste. There are no blacks in the rust belt, and that is the area of the country the GOP needs to focus on! Most blacks live in GOP states, anyway .

Ohio, Michigan, and Pennsylvania went blue in 2012 because of the urban/black vote.

That's only 54 electoral votes. Not much gain there.

Yep, which is why he is getting these invites. Maybe someone will actually process the message. Some of these folks are probably less indoctrinated than the white progressives.

Getting ~20-25% of the black vote plus 8 years of Obama fatigue could net Rand Paul Virginia, Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania, and possibly Michigan. Obviously there is a huge assumption he gets the nomination. I have a feeling RP is not the mainstream GOP's man.

The neocons and the military industrial complex despise him.

Maybe with Ben Carson as his running mate, he could hit 15%.

I had to read this three times before I realized it was Howard and not Hogwarts.

I didn't even think about that. If healthcare is still one of the most important issues with voters, then that'd be huge.

His comment isn't that far from the truth. When the Republican presidential primary starts, the Neocons and Christian Conservatives are going to gang up on him.
