When keeping it real goes wrong.
The definition of a hate crime is so nebulous that yes, it would be pretty easy to bring that charge when putting a noose around a (stone) black man.

If they can't get them on a hate crime charge they could throw a RICO charge against them. Seems to always work elsewhere.
