This thread was inspired by the LSU GOAT thread.

Watching LSU football the last few years, Miles has completely shifted his persona from his first several seasons of foot-to-the-floor aggression to a grind-it-out approach. This much is obvious.

I think we all surmise that the reason for this change was brought about by the number of interceptions in 2008, in combination with the fact that our defense has been immensely more reliable in years past than the offense.

The point is this, to be the GOAT, not only do we need the 2014,15, and 16 recruiting classes, I believe we also need the Hatter to return. We can put up 10-win seasons regularly, this we know, but we all want more and have it sitting there for the taking.

With the talent we're stockpiling, I don't see a reason why we can't get back to that same type of aggressive play-calling. We don't have to hide the defense or protect the offense.

God, I hate February - August.

Largely a myth. He went for it on fourth because he had a high percentage back who could pick those two yards up, and defenses that weren't quite what we've become used to. He was still very conservative in other aspects of the game.

2012 vs Bama featured some of Miles' most aggressive moments. His decision making is more a reflection of personnel, not years he's been on the job. If this year's OL is as dominant as projected, we'll see a lot of short yardage 4th down nods and people will say "DA HAT BACK BABY," but it will have just been a calculated risk that was favorable based on the percentages.
