..for your wife? Does she not care anymore after a certain number of years?

My dad bought for my mom throughout their marriage. 35 years

We have never really done Valentines. We both think its crazy. Plus my birthday is always a week before Valentines so we just go all out for that.

However many it takes for both you and your wife to realize what an artificial day Valentine's is.

Mine don't give a shite. I'll surprise her with something on a day when it's not expected.

I look forward to buying a gift for my sweetie when we're in our nineties.

based on my experience, I am not sure I would ever even try not buying a gift for valentines day again...

after a few years (5)they may say they dont care and they probably wont if you dont buy them anything but if you do, then you get extra brownie points.
My wife doesnt expect anything and nor do I, but it's nice when we surprise each other.
FWIW, I've been married 12 years and we still get each other a little something every year.

Never because my anniversary is on valentines

We normally just stay home and have steak and shrimp. I'll buy flowers every few years if the mood strikes, but she doesn't care if I don't.

I just got a text from my dad with a picture of the new car he bought her today, a red Volvo. 34 years.

I didn't buy a material item this year. Our only child's first birthday was yesterday. I got a new truck yesterday for his birthday. We are going out to eat tonight and a family trip to the zoo tomorrow. I paid for supper last night that included the in laws and hibachi that the birthday boy threw around the restaurant.
I'm currently looking around for my gift but haven't come across it yet.

How many years in your marriage do you want to still have sex?
Yes Valentine's Day is over commercialized, we get that. Yes you should be doing nice things for her all the time and not just on Vday...we get that. However....Valentines day is just another opportunity to show your wife you still are happy you chose her out of alllll the women on this earth to spend your life with. You don't have to buy expensive gifts or go all out, but you should take a moment and at least buy a card or show some small token of your affection and love to her. That's what a married woman wants.....she wants to know she still means something to you after all this time.

She told me this morning:
"Aren't you glad I am not high maintenance?"
We write cards to each other..but we mainly focus on the kids..
