re: matthew mcconaughey - transformation to a great actor?

I think I read somewhere that he kind of said screw it a couple of years ago and stopped making bad romantic comedies in favor of more interesting roles. I dunno, you're an artist, you make stuff, sometimes it's bad, sometimes it's really good, sometimes you get on a roll. The key is to keep on doing it and work through the low points.
He's liable to pull off a pretty cool double this year: an Oscar for Dallas Buyers Club and an Emmy for True Detective.
But as great as he's been in stuff lately, in my mind he'll never top Wooderson. Kind of like Sean Penn will never top Jeff Spicoli.
