Hypothetical: Pelicans acquire long-term SF, what to do with Anderson?

Just for shits and giggles, Pelicans acquire a Batum type guy for Gordon/Rivers/Evans/Ajinca.

Now you're looking at AD getting 75% of PF minutes, and splitting SF minutes between Anderson and Batum.

I guess the real question is, do you include Anderson in a deal for that much needed SF and pick(s)? I'm on the fence with this one. I think there are a lot of desperate teams out there, most notably eastern conference teams that would give the world for Ryno.

Don't get me wrong though, I love Anderson's game. I love his contract, but several of the NBA's brightest analysts have been quoted saying that the 3-pointer is "fool's-gold", which I can agree with to an extent. Just a thought I had on the drive home.

I don't see why acquiring a SF would affect Anderson at all. This staff wants to play Anderson/Davis together and one of those guys will be on the court at all times. Anderson doesn't play the 3 so all this does is give more spacing. A Batum type of player would crash the boards when Anderson floats to the perimeter similarly to what Aminu does. The only difference is the SF would actually be a threat to shoot and actually provides spacing.

In terms of spacing, a SF who can shoot and rebound is the final missing piece. We'd have spacing similarly to what you see at Golden State and that's pretty disgusting if you think about it.

Holiday
Evans
Batum
Anderson
Davis

...would be an incredible lineup

Anderson has never been and never will be a SF. He is a PF who has spent time on the court as a "SF" less than 1% of his time in the NBA.

This is so stupid. You can't just say a "batum like player." The league isn't abundant in "batum like players." We are most definitely not getting batum. Mention examples of who you think are "batum like players." He is a rarity because he is so versatile. When you think of versatile small forwards you have Durant and james at the forefront and batum maybe next. The next best most versatile player is gordon hayward which isn't going to happen. We would have to wrestle him away from the jazz by overpaying him with the cap space we don't have unless we trade eric Gordon. If we did trade Eric Gordon, I guarantee you center is a much more glaring need.

I've always said that a 3 big man rotation with AD, ryno, and a bruising C taking up all the time at the 4&5 is the way to go.

Doesn't have shite to do with a true SF

I'd like to see ryno try a little time at SF against people like melo john leuer, though
