The league made progress with the signing of Bradley and Defoe. But they're not going to sign Rooney overnight.

Why would any European in their prime leave Europe to a foreign league that is still in its infancy compared to most of the rest of the world?

My point was that the league is making progress, and you have to be realistic.

It's a "stigma," but it's not all MLS has

This league gets either:

- Americans or North Americans in general
- Older international stars from Europe
- South Americans in their prime

and for the most part won't for a variety of reasons such as playing in the Champions League.

These teams are trying to improve and signing a guy like Ashley Cole will improve most teams in the league. He may be aging and not as good as he once was, but he still can help plenty of MLS teams.

It may not help the perception some Europeans have but that isn't a reason for an MLS team not to improve their squad.
