Absolutely it factors into my decision. You can straight up fry and eat a cat squirrel. Try that with a big fox and it will take you a day and a half of gnawing. I cook then both in a brown gravy, but the fox squirrels take a good bit longer to get tender. If I was mixing all together I would par boil the fox squirrels first for a while. Or give them a run thru the pressure cooker.

I hear ya on frying.
With the 2 different types in either type of gravy...we just added the cats at a later time in the cook to compensate for the longer time needed for the fox to break down.
