Does that factor into the decision?

Serious question, not being a smart arse. Just wondering if one type is better than the other for different styles if cooking.

Every time I've cooked them, I've always had a mixed bag of both.

Yep. Makes a difference for me. Cat for gravy, fox in a red sauce.

Absolutely it factors into my decision. You can straight up fry and eat a cat squirrel. Try that with a big fox and it will take you a day and a half of gnawing. I cook then both in a brown gravy, but the fox squirrels take a good bit longer to get tender. If I was mixing all together I would par boil the fox squirrels first for a while. Or give them a run thru the pressure cooker.
