I made meridian's chicken and dumplings today for the game. They were great!
My only problem was I needed to cut the dumplings smaller than 1" x 1"
They puffed up like balloons.

You must have achieved an excellent expansion. Sorry they puffed so.
As one who never turned down a bowl of dumplings, I would have cut them with my spoon or fork and plowed on through.
