ESPN Saints blogger Mike Triplett believes there's a "strong chance" impending free agent RT Zach Strief gets a more lucrative offer elsewhere.
The Saints are in a salary-cap bind of sorts this offseason and won't be able to bring everyone back. Strief made 15 starts this past season and graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 1 overall right tackle, excelling in pass protection. Bryce Harris and Marcel Jones are possible in-house replacements for the Saints.

I fricking hope not!

Strief was the only consistent bright spot this year on our OLine and losing him would suck. We are in no position to outbid another team who is gonna over pay for a RT.

Took all season to sure up the left side, and now we might have to the same thing with right side next year. :banghead;

He's getting kinda old anyway. Time to get young on the oline. Isn't Strief like 30 now? Can't have much left in the tank and I'd rather not sign someone for more than they're really worth. Let's be real, Strief is an okay RT and nothing more. He did play well this past year though. How well did he grade in the run game? Is that something that's even possible to grade?

Well we still have Evans on the right side, who when he finally got healthy made a much bigger impact.

But yeah losing Strief is going to suck. If he gets overall $3 mil a year somewhere else I don't think we can match it.

At least Harris has experience though so it wouldn't be like throwing in a green rookie(who isn't a physical freak/draft gem). And Jones has the size to play the position so I actually hope he can get his shite together.

It'll be very interesting to see how we make space to try to keep some of these guys, which ones will get bid out of our price range, and which ones we just don't want any more.

RTs are dirt cheap. Eric Winston was one of the best RTs in the NFL in 2012 and he signed a 1 year, $1.25m deal with the Cards. Tyson Clabo was very good and signed a 1 year, $3.5m deal with the Dolphins (and went on to play horribly). If he walks, I don't think that we'll have much trouble finding a veteran stopgap to take over in the event that Jones/Harris suck.

Well, I guess we won't be seeing him at Red Eye anymore.
