What do you not agree with? We still were a top 3 offense without Payton in 2012. For the most part, our offense did their job. Might not have been the same way with Payton on the sidelines. But points wise and yardage wise, it was. Production wise we were pretty much the same.
And Im not saying we didnt miss Payton in 2012. In certain situations it would have def helped to have Payton there. Like on certain 3rd downs and what not.
But if we had coach Payton on the sideline in 2012, do you think our D would have been better? I dont. We could have won a game or 2 more with him, but we still would have been a .500 team.
We werent a 7-9 team because we didnt have Payton there. We were a 7-9 because we had a horrible D that was run by a horrible DC. And regardless of the system Spags ran, personnel wise we were horrible. We went 11-5 this year. And I dont think the turn around was all due because we got Payton back. Rob Ryan was the hire of the year coordinator wise in the entire NFL. And we went out and got some big time players in the draft and in FA. Kenny Vaccaro and Keenan Lewis came in and became 2 of our top 5 more important players IMO. And Rob Ryans attitude had a huge impact on our defensive players. He did a great job developing certain players and turning them into very good defensive players and getting the absolute most out of them. And did a great job in getting those players to fit his system.

I disagree with this. I don't think we have the worst defense in NFL history with Payton.
I think that our offense doesn't go 3 and out as often. I think we control the ball more and keep our defense off the field.
The 2012 offense was a disappointment, regardless of the stats. Too many 3 and outs, too many turnovers.
Saints were 1st in TOP this season, 25th in 2012, 3rd in 2011, and 5th in 2010
