Ill be in NM in late march for a week and I would like to hunt while I'm there. The only season open is cougar and the tag is 290 for two cougars. Anyone have any experience or advice?

that's 2 pretty nice dinners for Cougars. If you are halfway decent looking you should be able to take them home after just a few drinks at the bar.

You totally don't have to go to NM to cougar hunt.

Just head on over to Superior's tonight. Easy pickins.

Hunting cougars is essentially impossible without hounds to tree them for you. So you'll need an outfitter and that will cost anywhere from $4,000-5,000. Taking two will cost far more. It's also worth pointing out that success rates on big mature toms can be pretty low. No outfitter that I'm aware of has a 100% success rate. If their honest its probably closer to 50% in some areas. The hunt consists of following dogs thru mountainous terrain and shooting a cat out of a tree much like a squirrel off a bird feeder.
