One last bump - it looks like Samsung or Iphone - may wait for the S5, will be out in a month or so - Ive put up w/ my POS for this long another cpl weeks wont hurt

If you go Samsung get the s4 active as it's waterproof already. Then just get a slim case to protect from dropping. I made the switch to android and it is way better.

I have had several iphones, a Note 1 and Note 2, and now have a LG Optimus or something like that. ITs the same size as the Note. LG hasn't given me any real problems, but I think I prefer the Samsung phones a little more, in terms of quirky things they do. The iphone is for teenage girls and old people. Sorry guys.

The satellite maps and LSU baseball game streaming alone, makes the Note or something comparable almost a given. And they aren't that bulky once you get used to them

I had one of these for a few years LINK. It isn't the fastest or best software on the market, but if you need a tough phone, it is for sure. I dropped mine in the fire for ~5 minutes and it still worked. Microphone was melted, but the touch screen and everything else worked fine. I left it in the pool for half an hour and it still worked. I used to get pissed at something and throw it at the wall. Nothing I did would break the phone
