Wouldn't I have to pick up every single one and seal the entire thing? Water is probably wicked up from the ground, right?

Stop them from freezing. Heavy deep layer of activly composting material covered with a piece of black plastic should do the trick.


Bags of leaves, hay, and shredded hardwood mulch moistened with some septic tank accelerator added in makes nice compost.

Hammer – yep water is seeping/wicking in from ground so when it freezes u are …….. You could cover it etc to prevent from freezing if its not a big area.
