Yeah, it really isn't about about the snow and ice to me. It's the people who fricking panic at the first sign of loss of traction and slam on the breaks. The people who think they can make 90 degree turn like it is summer time. It's like everyone turns into an 80 year old cripple who can't see past the dashboard.

Unfortunately when you live in a highly populated area, it only takes a few panicky people to tie up the major road arteries for hours.

yep, luckily I live outside of town and everything was cancelled before I had to leave yesterday. Although, one of my friends works and live in Birmingham and he was stuck on 280 for 7 hours. He ended up having to stay in a shelter last night.

This is the main problem for areas down here. Its a huge chain reaction. Pretty much like dominos falling. All it takes is one idiot to fall and its all downhill from there. Get caught on the interstate during a thunderstorm and you would think you're in the middle of a cat 5 hurricane. People slam on brakes, put their flashers on, and make everything 10x's more dangerous with their so called "safe and cautious" driving.

We used to go skiing every year out west and would fly into salt lake or reno, rent a car and drive to condo in mountains, and back and forth to ski resorts everyday with no problems. Its the people that cause the majority of the problems not the conditions.
