My biggest complaint with a .40 is that it isn't a 10mm. It's a fine round and all it just doesn't measure up to the 10.
If faced with a choice and could only have one i'd take a .40 over a 9mm though

It doesn't perform any better than a good 9mm and cost a lot more to shoot.
