Citizen Kane, I think Michael Bay would be an excellent director for it.

Duel ( only if Spielberg directs it)

I could see old 80s movies like Goonies, Poltergeist remade and do well commercially.

Westworld.
The tech advances would actually make it plausible.
Bruce Willis would make a solid lead.

War of the Worlds.

But not another Speilberg-type adaptation.

An intellectual version truer to the book.

Instead of constantly wanting to remake old movies Hollywood should be looking for fresh and new ideas to bring to the silver screen. Is Hollywood so devoid of talented writers that all they can do is constantly look for old movies to update or remake. My god do they not have screen writers in Hollywood anymore? Or we not on our third or fourth telling of Stephen Kings book Carrie?

Casablanca needs more tits and explosions and Will Smith would destroy Bogart, so Casablanca.

Soderbergh made a good point earlier in a talk this year that Hollywood gets remakes wrong.

He said that Hollywood always remakes well regarded or mostly successful films. But that there are ton of great ideas and great stories that were poorly executed or poorly handled and could probably deserve a remake.

Not only would it be something "more new," but the content is there already to use.

We don't see those films enough to know what would be worthwhile.

I'd say The 10th Victim though. That could be fun.

Not a remake, but I'm still waiting on the sequel to Spaceballs. "Spaceballs 3: The Search For 'Spaceballs 2: The Search For More Money'"

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang minus the musical with a R rating and an October release.

The beloved family movie will start off imaginative and lighthearted. It will then take a sharp 90 degree turn when the Baron is introduced with his village of children slaves under the city. Obviously, the child catcher will have a much larger role with a supernatural feel. I could make this movie one of the creepiest flicks of the century.
