Why are Chromebooks so cheap?? Quality?

All I need is Internet browser form TDs and smut. Word suit for school to take notes and write papers.

I think it would suit your purpose well. You don't seem to need the more complex features of more advanced laptop. It's a good price for a good quality PC that does the basics in style.

It's similar to a tablet platform but looks like a laptop. You can't install desktop applications, only web-based apps.

If you don't already have one you would have to create a gmail account (lsu hosts their email domain from gmail so I already had one) which includes docs which is a web-based microsoft office like app that would do this for you.

TD and smut comes standard.

The operating system on a chromebook is ChromeOS, which is essentially nothing but the goggle chrome browser. The hardware on a Chromebook is superb with the exception of the screen. The screen quality is distorted from side viewing angles. It has a solid state hard drive, an Intel Haswell processor, two USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI export, and a battery life of 8 hours. If everything you plan on doing for school can be ran on the chrome browser then I would highly suggest a chromebook. If you have to open Microsoft word files then there are free extensions you can download to open them on a chromebook.

Here is a link to the Chromebook I have. the price has gone up $45 since I bought it
