PSA

Don't freak out because you are behind in IP's... Currently everyone is behind in IP's. To be on track you would need 131 IP's at this point. Currently we have 3 players tied with the lead in IP's at 121-122. So they are about 10 IP's behind and they are the leader.

I assume we are all behind because early in the year every pitcher has a pitch count at around 100. As they build arm strength you will see them go deeper into games.

I posted this in the Springer thread.. but I'll post it here as well

Springer's contact rate is atrocious. He has a high walk rate which tells me he can identify hittable pitches. But his contact rate tells me he is swinging and missing hittable pitches. You aren't going to find anyone in major league baseball with a 65% contact rate and a .250 batting avg. The pitchers are just too good in the majors.

A lot of people are pulling crazy #'s out of their arse. But if you look at the underlying stats of Springer he's basically Justin Maxwell with more speed. Maxwell has a 65% contact rate and a .227 major league average. I think best case scenario is you are getting a cameron type player. .240-.250 average 20 homers.. and 20+ steals. But his floor is being sent back to AAA and learn not how to K at a historic rate.

You boys better bid higher than the BJ Upton price to get him.

I was the only other bidder on Upton and I bid $2. Should I go $3 for Springer?

My Yankee pitchers today:

15 IP, 0 ER, 2 QS, 1 SV, .6 WHIP

At least the Cubs are good for something.

Sly attempt by PSU to drive the price down on Springer before with his paragraph of "shitting" on him:
