How Did Tulane Turn Things Around and Can UAB Do the Same?

I know there are people on this board who closely follow Tulane and have insight into their turnaround. Correct me if I'm wrong but up until their most recent coaching change in 2011 they were horrible but this year they made a bowl game.
What did Tulane do to revitalize their program and can UAB replicate their success

They refocused their recruiting in the New Orleans area.

Recruiting more heavily in the New Orleans area and playing in a state with only one legitimate college football program.

Recruiting.
CJ has brought in a few pretty highly touted guys, but along with that there is a lot of professional coaching experience on the staff (CJ, mike Neu and Lionel Washington) and they are doing a great job evaluating talent of the not so highly rated recruits.

Johnson's the answer, although Toledo's recruiting picked up the last couple of years. The first few years post Katrina, we were recruiting at least 1/2 FCS players.
Johnson hired a good staff; he wasn't afraid to put his best athletes on defense either, particularly helpful in defenseless C-USA.

Step 1: Refer to the teams as the Birmingham Blazers, not UAB. Fresno State does something similar (official name is California State-Fresno)
Step 2: Move academic campus to the Lakeview area
Step 3: Build stadium near Sloss Furnace

How realistic is it to move the UAB games to the Baron's new stadium?

I don't know about UAB but Tulane gets a ton of money from extremely wealthy graduates like the Glazers.

Tulane is really on the way up.
2 reasons why
1. $
2. CJ
and we're only going up.
