I don't think we're talking about a drastic overhaul to some ridiculous Nike uniforms that make us look like Oregon.

Keep the traditional look, but just freshen things up a bit. And maybe go with another color combination once in awhile. I'm old school and have been a huge Tiger fan since 1970, but even I don't understand the reluctance to change even one thing about our uniforms.

It's not like we'll all go to hell if we change the helmet font, or change the "suspenders" shoulder stripe on our jerseys or, god forbid, wear white pants or a gold jersey once a year.

For the most part I'm fairly traditional. But I did love the Pro Combats they wore against Arky in '09. Thought the "Antique Gold" helmet and accents were great.

It would look horrible. Never speak of this again.

You must not be paying attention, because we change things frequently.

We changed the font of the numbers on the side of the helmet in the 60s. We changed to another helmet logo entirely from 72-76. We changed to the current version in 1977. We've changed the shade of yellow helmet over the years. Changed the size of the LSU helmet font. Changed the color of the facemask.

For the jerseys, we dramatically changed the shoulder stripes. We changed the shade of purple to a much lighter shade. And just last year we changed the font of the numbers and moved the numbers lower on the jersey.

Not to mention that we've changed our midfield logo and end zone logos numerous times.

So burying your head in the sand and saying "change nothing" is just plain silly. Keep the tradition, but make tweaks to freshen it up and keep it current.

It's actually one of those things LSU had done dramatically right over the years...in that we have been able to tweak things here and there and even our own fans think we've had uniforms in stasis since 1958. Even when showing them side by side...

I don't think all changes have been good. I don't like that we seemed to get a package deal with Ole Miss on jersey numbers as we're both using the same font, for instance. Most have been fine...and some were great additions.

The only changes that need to be made is to go back to the old number font.

I always thought that if they made a subtle change like removing the stripes in the center from the helmet and stripes from the side of the gold pants. It would be a better look. You can keep the P&G stripes on the white jerseys, but all the other shite is just too much damn stripes.
You take away the stripes from the sides of the pants and you look like a high school team in their pajama bottoms just like the New Orleans Saints.

I don't care one way or the other but I didn't realize uniform color equated to performance on the field...hmmm.
If someone magically said hey you guys drastically change your uniforms and you're guaranteed the Natty next year....most fans would be all over that.

Who ever said that??

I've played and love watching various sports my entire life, and I always wanted my uniform, and my favorite team's uniform, to look good. Who doesn't want that?

But I've never said it would help the team's performance on the field.

I bought a Christmas tree ornament in the shape of an LSU football helmet 3 yrs ago. That pic looks exactly like the ornament. I don't why the manufacturer used Toonces on the helmet.

So team called "Tigers" shouldn't have stripes on its uniforms? That makes no sense.

if you want that to happen, then you suck and should never get to go to an LSU game again

I been wanting LSU to do a makeover on their uni's. K

Why?

The only, and I mean only, thing I'd like to see is White Helmets/White Pants with the Purple jerseys. The all white ProCombats we had a few years ago were tight.

But the classic jerseys shouldn't be touched.

Stay with the traditional unity but I would not mind that one a few times a year.

Thanks man! Nah, I could never just leave the old war helmet behind completely. This one would be a sweet once a year thing I think.

Work on the font....but that is pretty badass

Yeah, I'm not too good with text. If someone else is I could always upload it without the logo and they can take a shot at it. I literally just started it when I saw the thread last night and thought this style would work.

Dont change the helmets or the uniforms. They are ICONIC. They stand for TRADITION. They stand the test of time, always being consistent..alot like our program has been consistant since 2000, unlike all these other jokesters changing their uniforms every week. Have "special" games to honor certain things that happened in history and let the guys wear some totally different uniform for that game. BUT PLEASE keep the regular damn uniform on a regular basis. Look I love out helmets and don't want them to change, but they aren't all that traditional. They have changed 6 times. They aren't like Bama or Nd who have never changed

Nah. Just let them wear the all white Nike Pro Combat uniforms for one game a season and we're all good.

In what way? I ask this honestly, because I think you mean well but I don't think you understand what you're suggesting here.

LSU's helmet can be said to be recognizable from a distance since the late 50's...but in no way should that be confused with not having changed at all. In fact, the only thing that has remained consistent during that time frame is the color of the helmet and the three stripe pattern. Literally all other parts have changed over the years.

1947-1955

It's that helmet Nike was trying to match with our Pro Combat unis back in 2009...

1956

1957

1958-1964...notice the numbering is black.

1965-1971...numbers changed but still in black.

1972-1976...goodby black numbers hello Tiger on side of the helmet.

Late 1970's...Charles Alexander era helmet. This was the first time LSU fans saw what we now much of what we now consider to be our "traditional" helmet.

It was not until the the early 1980's that we saw ALL pieces come together...

I love our helmets and our uniform, but make no mistake...they have never been unchanging relics. Heck...by today's standard, Paul Dietzel would have been burned at the stake for altering the "traditional" uniform work by greats like Y.A. Title to these Big Bird Yellow unis we wear now. Can you imagine The Rant in 1956 losing it's shite over THAT change?!? haha
