And pizza, I don't think we have as good a shot with all the guys you listed. I think we maybe land 5 of those.

I would take 5 of those 8 and try to fill in with three more without a doubt. i think pulling 5 is tough, but when you analyze each individual, I think my characterization of our chances were accurate. Unfortunately, with that many from out of state, we may only end up with 1 or 2. The question I tried to answer was how we get to 25 with good players for which we have a legitimate shot and I think we have a legitimate chance for those 8.

I think we end up with Adoree, Dupre, Speaks, Kelly and Valentine. That's 23 right there.

Agree just since he was not scholarship originally, there is always the chance he could lose it if needed. Will not be needed but I still include this as a possiblity

I would hope not. Dude is gonna be our starting fullback.

Currently we are sitting at 18. Unfortunately, I think we lose Deondre Clark. I think we land:
Malachi Dupre
Derrick Kelly
Trey Lealaimatafao
TRAVONTE VALENTINE
& a surprise recruit

We finish with around 20-22 in this class.

Not a clue who we get, recruiting is so fluid with these kids nowadays. But I do think we get to 25, it seems Les always likes to fill his classes. Remember Riley at the last minute last year and several others in years past. Just my two cents.

Valentine
Kelly
Dupre (we may lose him but I'm confident he comes here)
Adoree (again, going out on a limb, but, it's a perfect NFL decision for him).

20 at worst 22-24 at best.

derek ponamsky said on yesterday we will sign 25. he's the expert so i'll go with him.

not sure who they will be. not in favor of just signing guys for the hell of it. Seems to be a lot of room left in this class.

Before anyone asks, I'm not Derek Ponamsky. Just want to clear that up right now.

i think we will sign 25. we will get a 2nd wr (porter or rushing) and the dt from texas (lea.) plus i think the new ol coach will want to add another recruit (plus kelley) to get started working with these guys. remember guys like bennie logan, ternece magee, and trai turner were 3* players on most recruiting services.

That is a wildcard. But, my impression is this usually happens not as a result of planning for it in February, but as a result of summertime attrition.

i think we have 27 scholarships available (technically 28 but one goes to neighbors and thatll count against last year.)

teams usually try to hit the 85 mark. pretty rare when that doesnt happen.

several guys we get will be be signing day decisions.

In a way, the signing day decisions make this recruiting season more interesting, nerve racking but interesting.

When this year first started we all thought there will be a numbers problem.. now we seem to have more than enough.. Look for kids like Gage to get in

yeah, 21 seniors, all the early draft entries free up a bit of space, plus lasts years walkons who get a schooly and early enrollees. i think the number is 28, 2 ees and at least one walkon scholly for neighbors. the technical limit is 25 regardless of roster space, but the ees and walkon scholarships (given in the spring) can count against last year.

so, 7 more scholarships are open right now unless some of the seniors didnt take up a scholarship, then it goes down by one per.

LSU almost put too many of it's eggs in too few baskets this year.

Well, in hindsight, we went hard & heavy after the 5's and got burned. But the staff had to- you can't pass up a chance for top in-state talent. I am still most shocked by Willis to Fl & Brown to Bama, but to me, these issues always work out in the end, just like the numbers. As to the numbers, I seriously doubt we take 25, and that is fine, I hate when they 'reach' after someone who really doesn't have a chance for playing time, would rather they just give it to a walk-on that deserves it.

Too early for that question with the 3 most exciting weeks happening right now.

I bet they sign as many as they can and more when possible, just too many gaps to fill with 23 early NFL exits the last 2 yrs. The OU Bama game reminded me of the D we used to have with TM7, Mingo, Montgomery, Minter, Simon, Edwards, Claiborne, Logan, and Reid sacking and intercepting the QB.
