Sooo, they want the big hire, but not willing to pay for him until they get desperate. Looks like risk-taking time.

Not buying the money issue. LSU football has no issues with money and Les has the power to hire who he wants. Think Scike may be playing favorites or someone is. Who knows with the ineptitude of our insiders lately. With the way they've been lately Sale is probably the guy

Washington would be gone inside a handful of years.

Grimes is a good choice. I hope they can find a place for Mawae on the staff.

What I've heard.

Miles went to Alleva and came back with egg on his face. His hasty decision to fire Stud is going to end up blowing up.

Correct, LSU football has zero issues with money. But the fact remains they are paying over $1.2 million for coaches not to coach LSU next year.

Hasty? This has been rumored for months. Everyone knew it was coming.

It was an impromptu decision.

Hadn't heard that, but I'm not in Indy. Top-5 OL coach. RT @SonnyKoufax10 Rumor is LSU is hiring Jeff Grimes as OL coach. Thoughts?

Clearly, you seem to know more than me, but how can a move that has been rumored to happen for months be considered impromptu?

Solid hire, if so.

Because it was. There was a plan when an opportunity presented itself: Stud out, Washington in.

so having a plan runs counter to it being impromptu. It cant be both. So LSU wouldn't pony up for Washington? Does this effect us keeping Cam in the future?

Scike just said on the radio that Washington was to be the guy, but Alleva declined it on account of money he wanted.

If Alleva blocked a hire that Cam wanted over say $100k a year, he needs to go. Period. LSU football should be given whatever asked within reason. With the SEC network money on its way as well, which looks to be a large amount, it would be a terrible decision by Alleva to block the hire. I hope that information somehow comes to light so it can be validated as true or not.

If Alleva blocking a hire is actually a legit runor, I'd have to believe its nothing more than negotiations.

As an assistant Oline coach he's probably making somewhere around the $100,00 range. No way he's asking for top Oline coach money and no way Alleva isn't allowing Miles to offer a competitive salary.

Jeff Grimes is making $265k. I don't see Washington asking more than that.

I'll take Grimes,

Sounds more like a power play by alleva because miles pushed for these extensions and now we're tied to buyouts. He pulled this shite before though

Grimes would be a pretty good hire IMHO, a definite improvement over Stud. Would be stoked
