Yeah I finally saw something on it. That's quite shocking considering they said before they weren't going to budge from the $5.5-6m range.

I guess now that he can get other offers and they saw what other teams were willing to give that had to overpay just to keep him.

Stupid move on their part because he was willing to settle for $7m per before. They just lost big time.

And I figured he would get about $7-8m per because he is young, though not as good as Grimes(but he's older).

I still don't think Munnerlyn and those similar guys get as much as Grimes, but all it takes is one team.

Edit:
The deal is actually front loaded because the Packers have a ton of cap space this year($30m+ before they signed Shields). Smart move on their part.

$15m in year one, and $9m in the third and fourth years. So the second year is for $6m. So front loaded year one and back loaded year two.

That's what I was thinking. A team with tons of cap space (Cleveland, Oakland) striking out on some guys and pretty much being forced to overpay a player like Captain. I may be overestimating his value a bit, Evan Silva of rotoworld actually thinks Peanut Tillman is a better FA CB than Munnerlyn (he did make the Pro Bowl, but he's on his last legs and has been primarily a zone CB).

PFT did a poor job explaining it. When they said

quote:

his 2014 compensation is $15 million

is including most of, if not the entire signing bonus.

quote:

Jason_OTC ?@Jason_OTC 13m
Based on @AlbertBreer tweet looks like a 5.625m cap in year 1, 9.125m cap in year 2, and 11.125m in year 3. #packers

Still, $26m in the first 3 seasons isn't far off from the average per season.
